The constellation of Aries is located in the northern hemisphere between Pisces’ (West) and Taurus’ (East).
If you wish to spot it and you live in the northern hemisphere, look up at the evening sky from the end of the summer, so around September, up to March.
If you live in the southern hemisphere, instead, it might get harder to spot it in your sky due to the protracted daylight.
Aries is a relatively dim constellation, which has only four bright stars, called Hamal, Sheratan, Mesarthim and 41 Arietis.
The Egyptians introduced the cult of Aries first. There is a specific reason behind this: back then, when the constellation of Aries reached its apex in the sky, along with the star Sirio, the Nile used to flood. We all know that the principal subsistence source for Egyptians was the river Nile because the fertility of their lands and their economy strictly depended on its activity.
We have a lot of proof of the importance of this cult, especially in terms of buildings and related, their best expression of art. For instance, the path that runs to the Temple of Amon-Ra (Karnak, Luxor), has two wings of granite ram-headed sphinxes. Amon-Ra itself was represented in the same way, sometimes.
However, Egypt wasn’t the only place where Aries cult and mythology developed. In fact, we can actually say that the real myth related to Aries as a zodiac sign, is part of the Greek culture. I’m talking about the “Legend of Jason and the Golden Fleece”, which you probably already heard.
This legend begins with King Athamus of Boetia taking a second wife, Ino, that was extremely jealous and resentful of the children born during his first marriage, especially of Phrixus. She was so blinded by jealousy that she tried to get rid of them in many ways.
For instance, she managed to intercept a messenger that his husband sent to an oracle to find a solution about the starvation of his people, falsely suggesting that Phrixus had to be sacrificed to prevent that terrible event.
Despite his first wife, Nephele, begged King Athamus to save their son, he agreed to the sacrifice. At the very last minute, the boy and his sister, Helle, were rescued by a magnificent ram with a golden fleece, sent by Zeus in answer to their mother’s prayers. Unfortunately, during the escape, Helle fell into a river (named “Hellespont”). Phrixus, instead, was carried safely to the land of Colchis. To show gratitude to Zeus, he sacrificed the ram in his name and gave its golden fleece to King Aeetes. I suggest the reading of this myth because it’s interesting, and in my opinion, we can also deduce some traits of the people born under this sign.
Aries Characteristics & Traits.
In Astrology, Aries people are famous for being very impulsive and impatient. They’re the first sign in the zodiac cycle, after all.
However, they’re also very passionate, determined, enthusiastic and stubborn. What it has to be appreciated about these people is that they take benefit from arduous situations thanks to their instinct of bringing out the best in themselves to overcome obstacles: in fact, Aries love challenges.
The need for excitement pushes them into new situations where they finally take action. For this reason, they’re known to be brave and adventurous, they will always be the ones who’d try out newer things in life without thinking twice, even at the cost of getting hurt.
On the other hand, Aries’ flaw is that they can turn out to be really arrogant, with the classic “I’m always right”, “I do what I want, dobby is a free elf” attitude. This stubbornness makes it quite challenging to deal with them, sometimes.
In relationships, Aries tend to be the jealous type, very passionate, and they can’t stand routines. In fact, they have the tendency to run away if they get bored: they need to live a stimulating relationship to last. Red flag: they are a bit flirty, but it’s in their DNA, they don’t even notice that most of the time.
For the same reason, Aries can’t do a desk job, which would be definitely way too boresome for people with such energy!
However, we have to admit that Aries is one of the best signs to have near as a friend since they’re always loyal, frank, reliable and honest when it’s about friendships.
Aries people usually benefit from healthy bodies, even though their weak points are stomach, kidneys and head. They need to take care of their diet and their physical shape.
The adjectives that best describe Aries people in their career matters are competitive and born leaders.
Being ruled by fire, Aries will always try to reach the best position available, they want to be the first in everything. As mentioned, they’re the first sign in the zodiac cycle, why should that be inconsistent?!
Their love for challenges pushes them to do their best to complete their skills. Although, if they don’t feel stimulated enough by their job, they don’t last for too long. Despite this, they’re usually honest people that believe in fair-play.
Their self-confidence may get a little bit irritating for their teammates sometimes, but they don’t give a damn: Aries are unlikely to give up on anything they believe in.
The most suitable career areas for Aries people are medicine, mechanics, sports, research, engineering, entrepreneurship and adventure travel.
Aries Best Matches.
Disclaimer: matches between zodiac signs are not written in stone. Remember that the compatibility between people is influenced by the placements in each chart.
Leo. Fire signs love challenges, that’s a fact. This relationship would be a perpetual challenge, and they attract each other for this reason! They’d never get bored together. All their conversations are little competitions, and if the situation gets out of hands, this can become unbearable. Sometimes, they can play the “transgression” card: a relationship that must be dealt with attention, they’re both prideful. The shared tendency of being flirty can really upset the partner and take things in the wrong direction. If both signs manage to mitigate this and learn to find compromises, this is a great match indeed!

Sagittarius. This is a free, independent and passionate couple… until they don’t step on each other’s toes. Both of them hate to be controlled, so they’d rather have two independent lives, trying to trust their partner. Despite this, they’re both quite jealous, and this can be a reason to argue.
Nevertheless, the keyword for this match is just one: passion! Sexuality is lively since they both try new experiences. Boredom is literally a stranger for these two!

Gemini. This would be, without any doubt, a stimulating relationship, especially under a communicative and intellectual point of view. They’re also both very active and social animals, which would make them the perfect couple to hang out with! Not a bad match even for sex, as long as the Aries partner can lead.
